Here we feature a favorite: the Can O Worms.

This unit is the most popular home worm composting bin we have seen. It's clean enough that some people even keep one in the kitchen, making it ready to start composting at any time.

The design is simple enough, there are just trays that stack up. With the 3 trays, you continually rotate through the finished compost, and you never touch the worms as they always burrow to the next level to avoid the light. Add more scraps, and you are onto the next batch!

One advantage to composting with worms is that you can dispose your waste papers, vegetable and fruit rinds, coffee grounds, tea bags, and vegetable peelings in an eco friendly way, some of which will not work very well in a traditional compost bin. The unit itself is made from recycled plastic.

Can O Worms Videos

Here are a couple of great videos showing how easy it is to set up and use the Can O Worms.

Take a look a the Amazon reviews, and you'll see that there are quite a few owners of the Can O Worms that are happy with it. The most common complaint you see is that of the small little spigot on the bottom wearing out, other than that it seems to be quite sturdy and lasts a long time.

If you would like a quick introduction to worm composting, we've published an article on worm composting. In addition, here is a short vermicomposting video tutorial.
